coach carter

i coach 2 guys basketball teams at st. mel's college here in town: the junior and senior boys. they've both got about 5-6 decent players and then a bunch of footballers who come out to play so they don't have to go to class. we travelled today for a game and i ended up having to ref as one of the officials didn't show. the gym didn't have a scoreboard. it was a close game and my guys did a nice lil comeback. with 2 seconds to go, and my team up by 1, one of our guards got a steal but travelled afterward; i had to make the call (right in front of their bench). On the ensuing inbound a kid from the other team hit a 20 ft jumpshot at the buzzer to win it. it was one loss i couldn't blame on the refs! My ankle has begun to turn all kinds of crazy colors, seems like each day there is a new one... today was green. we did more photos and interviews for the newspaper and for this video game store, i'm getting friendly with the manager so she can hook me up with deals on the new x-box when it comes out. still waiting to start bartending...i missed my first few shift cuz i can't stand on it for long periods of time yet, i need a cane and some mary jane (for medicinal purposes??)....
