miceail's misadventures

How many roads must a man walk down, before you call him a man? How many seas must the white dove sail, before she sleeps in the sand? The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind

welcome to movie phone

we went and checked out the hills have eyes at the theatres. we thought we were really slick and planned on seeing two flicks for the price of one, pulling the old go to the bathroom and back into another movie trick. didn't really work out as planned. i forgot to read tom green's "how to book" on sneaking into movies. it doesn't help that the 3 of us aren't the most inconspicuous dudes in this place. our plan to go and pull this move was ill-timed as mondays are the deadest night apparently, they were selling tix's at the concession stand right across from the doors. the three of us walked in with the same look on our face... nothing a slurpee didn't cure though. the movie wasn't really scary as much as it was gory. many of the scene's sets weren't cramped or claustraphobic enough to strike terror or make you jump. apparently the critics weren't too happy that a frenchie directed it:

"I don't care for a French filmmaker making a contemptuous, smug, proselytizing allegory about the legacy of Yankee colonial/expansionist violence."

"Every time the movie veers toward political commentary and threatens to become interesting, Aja just throws some more severed limbs onto the screen."

"Pushing the envelop for human carnage, Aja spares no stomach turning moment when it comes to hardcore violence."

feeling unfullfilled afterwards we watched the newest guy ritchie flick on the laptop called "revolver". i've never been so confused coming out of a movie than this one, maybe it was just really late but it felt like you needed coles notes to follow the damn thing. great cast and dialogue though. jason statham is a good actor in movies that he narrates
