good friday: prayer or party??

the day jebus died, one of the most sacred days of worship in the catholic faith. in a country that is over 90% catholic you would expect that it would be a day of solemn mourning and reflection.... WRONG. it is illegal to sell alcohol anywhere in ireland on good friday (pubs, clubs, liquor stores) yet it is one of the biggest piss-ups of the year apparently. it is the day dedicated to the house party (without the high top fades. kid and play are replaced by paddy and declan, malt liquor with guiness in a can....brilliant!) all i heard this week was people telling stories of savage parties that they had been to in the past and the degree to which they don't remember them. sadly i was left out of this perceived right of passage cuz my season isn't over yet.
