miceail's misadventures

How many roads must a man walk down, before you call him a man? How many seas must the white dove sail, before she sleeps in the sand? The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind

game 1: opening night

finally the first game of the year that meant something. opened the season on the road in copenhagen(in the simpsons known as "capital city") against falcon. they are expected to be one of the top teams this year. as i've illustrated, we have had the luck of the .....dutch? this year with injuries so far, of the 16 players on the first team, we were only able to travel with 8 players due to injury or a variety of other excuses.

during warmups our resident tom green personality, soren bank twists his ankle in a 2 on 1 warm up drill, out for the game..... down to 7 before tip off....lawd 'ave mercy.... the luck-o-meter was hitting ones and twos's(minus)

the first quarter we come out with tight defense and hit some shots on offense and have a 6 point lead. second quarter up and down, we end the half up one 41-40 in their gym. they dressed 15 players, we thought we were gonna get run outta the gym. both our point guards are not travelling due to injury or trips. i start at point, not being a ball handler but the next best thing we had to some degree. i handled it pretty good, setting up and controlling the game as best i could, yet in a new role nonetheless. some turnovers but to be expected. my ankle held out good.

third quarter we get endre rolling inside.... child abuse... call the police... dude ends up dropping 33 pts. put in some serious work. they had no answers like trebek versus connery on final jeopardy. crowd starts to get rolling a bit, they start heckling us a bit on shots, freethrows and turnovers....fuck 'em. close game back and forth. soren lund fouls out with 8 minutes to go, then his brother jakob fouls out with 3 minutes to go. tense. i have 4 fouls since the end of the third quarter... playing smart, keeping away from trouble. we play tight, offense bogs down.... they bog down but start to pull away, up 8 at one point. we gnaw away and are left down 4 with 16 seconds left. i run a high pick and roll with endre... hit a layup in traffic. down two. timeout other team. 12 seconds left. draw up a play, so their big man receives the ball for a quick foul. works to perfection... he is a bad free throw shooter. he hits the first. they are up three. he misses the second, i rebound and sprint downcourt, crossover top of the key and pop a three in the defenders eye with 5 seconds left....tie game.... turn to the crowd with that kobe in look in the eye, straight mean mugging... beating my chest like WHAT!... they inbound and are called for travelling. our ball 4 seconds left. inbounds pass deflected outta bounds. our ball still. i get the ball at half, cross over at top of the key, jump shot.... defender all over my forearm like he's bruce bowen and i'm nash. donaghy(the ref) ..... no foul call, almost an airball(i never shoot airballs). i scream foul...... blank stares by the ref(like he's gonna call an obvious foul on the last shot of the game in their gym)...overtime. a game we are supposed to lose by 30pts. five players left.

we are HYPED. come outta huddle amped!. first play; endre shimmy shake, bucket... and one. up three. back and forth no scores. i get ball on the wing, turn and face and clear out defender, catch his chin with my elbow(cuz he's inside my shirt like a rash: for the record you are allowed to do what i did)... this gives me my fifth foul. i'm out, no subs.... for emergency purposes the coach is listed as a player as well... i repeat for EMERGENCY. he starts to throw a jersey on... the refs don't allow us extra time... so until he is ready it is 4 against 5. he is on the sideline tieing his shoes, finishes and runs onto the court, no bothering to sub in(hockey styles). the scoretable loses their mind, start blowing the horn, our team stops playing as their player shoots a layup. the refs end up calling the basket good(even though it was shot after the horn sounded), then a techical foul to our bench for an illegal substitution(2 free throws and the possession right after. so basically a 6 point swing. 3 minutes left, no timeouts, 4 players and a coach on the floor.... you can imagine the insanity. we fall apart piece by piece... turnovers, offensive fouls, bad shots. pandoras box of bad. lose by 7..... fuck. i finished with 23pts but with the loss it doesn't mean anything. long story short, we gotta get healthy and travel with more players cuz it was ridiculous.

one of those games where, sure we exceeded expectations but we shoulda pulled it out, just some bizzare bad breaks. one of the weirder games i've been associated with. long story short record 0-1. here is the game summary from our website. its in danish though. we are gonna smash this team when we play em next, anger fuel burns a hot fire.

my first time to copenhagen other than my arrival flight. pretty nice from what i saw, the highest bike per capita place i've ever seen(but i can imagine asian being worse). the largest part of denmark is called jutland, where we are and then there are two islands that you have to go thru to get to copenhagen. one bridge is 18 km long. think about that for a second.... you can barely see the other side of it. pretty impressive. the toll on it makes the coquihalla look like quarter drink night in grand praire though.

the drive back was 4.5 hours. imagine how many beers can be consumed in such a time period, especially when trying to quench the taste of bitter from one's pallate. threats of trailer park boys piss jugs were made but relinquished to road-side attractions. entertainment provided by dre telling us about stories from hungary. my favorite was the time him and four buddies went on a fishing trip, got sloshed and then decided on the drive home, to steal a pig from the a field on the side of the highway. dre caught its tail and they lifted it into the truck by its ears(this thing weighed 100 + pounds). it then started crapping in the truck bed and stank so bad, they decided to kill it. after several ill placed stabs with rambo's knife, one of the dudes, who apparently was a redneck, slit the throat, burned the hair off with a propane torch and quartered that swine. they were so drunk they forgot about the 5 carp they caught which they were gonna sell. i couldn't stop laughing.... kosher kills

I ran the game summary page through a translator for ya- since your Danish sux.
My favourite quotes ...

- "Completely badly it stayed, when Miceail Coghlan got his 5. mistake only 1 minute inside the overtime." (I can think of more than five mistakes you've made)
- "That meant that coach Peter Jensen oneself had to at the track, and that routine is good, so that do not hand it entirely, when the form not is!" (WTF? It's like your pikey - except spelled right)
- ... the Lemvig-pills have reason to be chairs over the performance. (Be a chair, baby. Be a CHAIR!)
- hopefully more players will be lucid after their injuries. (That means no more drinking. This means you, lush)

THE TRANSLATION...

All oddses were in advance in against Lemvig to the fight out against the favourites from Falcon.
And the situation didn't stay better for the visitors, when Søren Bang was damaged under the opvarmnig, so that Lemvig only had 7 players (+ coach Jensen) available.
Still Lemvig succeeded in fighting oneself through a fight, where the intensity was on the top from start at last.
Lemvig came surprising best from start and created a lead within the first 10 minutes at 11-20.
In 2. period Falcon came along better and was close to equalizing the lead at half, where Lemvig however maintained the lead by only a single point, 40-41.
The rest of the fight went the teams nicely together, but with a small SIC the upper hand for Falcon most of time.
Before last period Falcon led by 4 points, 67-63.
Last period became an equal and very intense affair.
With only 16 seconds again there was Lemvig still to the rear by 4 points, but still it was a success to fight itself back and wangle an extra period with the position 88-88.
Even though Lemvig had momentum and barren area with the good conclusion, the overtime was to Falcon's fo after all enough.
Even though Lemvig had momentum and barren area with the good conclusion, the overtime was to Falcon's advantage after all enough.
The 7 Lemvig-players had used a lot of the strength fight through, and when both Søren and Jakob Lund as early as 4. period were sent on the bench with 5 mistakes, there weren't many prospects back for the visitors.
Completely badly it stayed, when Miceail Coghlan got his 5. mistake only 1 minute inside the overtime.
That meant that coach Peter Jensen oneself had to at the track, and that routine is good, so that do not hand it entirely, when the form not is!
All in all it gave Falcon more space and they knew fetch a comparatively safe victory at 101-92.
A victory the favourites however had to hard work for, a fight Lemvig deserves great praise for.
A defeat after overtime is always bittet and aergelig, but when the disappointment has put itself, the Lemvig-pills have reason to be chairs over the performance.
Falcon is after all among the favourites for promotion, and those conditions Lemvig runs on to the day's fight didn't give in advance great winner chances.
But the players deserve great praise for the effort oh!.
Falcon is after all among the favourites for promotion, and those conditions Lemvig runs on to the day's fight didn't give in advance great winner chances.
But the players deserve great praise for the effort and managed to show that the bank on the team is good, the position in order and the fighter will on the top.
There is a lot of good to come along to the next fights, where it hopefully can be provided a little bigger troupe.
There are in this minutes not stated names, because the effort was characterized in connection with a large team work, where everybody play up to their best - and maybe even more than that.
Next fight for Lemvig will be next on Saturday at home against Odense, and hopefully more players will be lucid after their injuries.

lol yeah those translators work sweet. bill murray and myself are lost in it. maybe i can convince johnny the cunning linguist to learn danish and begin to translate the stuff properly. i love how they mention that i fouled out a minute into overtime and nothing of me banging of the last 5pts and a three in their eye at the end of regulation. i'll try to put some video of the game up so you can translate that.... kobe!
