miceail's misadventures

How many roads must a man walk down, before you call him a man? How many seas must the white dove sail, before she sleeps in the sand? The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind

para-cuss words are not welcome

South we went down the coast to paracus. it means "sandstorm" in spanish. or aztec. i´m not really sure! all i know is that i wanted to hear some Da Rude. (hand waving over face)
the reference had to be done... techno owes us all an apology for being created! the closest we came to local music was an old black dude on a wooden box(his drum set) with a ukeleyley or however the hell you spell it. he serenaded us with what he led in with(all in fast mumbled spanish, later translated to us); "welcome ladies and gentleman to the coast! i´m about to introduce you to the sounds of peru, the sounds of the island and our coast". he then would break into guantanmera(bobmarley), a folk song(which talked about columbia) and one other mumbo jumbo compilation(it had a little gods must be crazy in it). needless to say how this related to the sounds of peru..... i know not. it wasnt even really so bad that it wasnt authentic, it was that it was only 3 songs. it was all he knew and we were there long enough to experience his set three times. i was like dude just cuz you move to a different spot in the cafe doesnt change things. sidenote: he also had a babies pinky growing out of his neck. it was like something out of total recall. paracus is a sleepy little town on a national reservation. its claim to fame is isla de ballesteros. which is loosely translated into "poop island". ok it might not be but it should. it is where the birds from all the hitchcock movies migrate to. it is a doo doo extravaganza. it actually fuels the local economy. guano is apparently scraped off the rocks of this group of islands every 5-6 years. they are part of a conservatory, a few clicks offshore from the coast. if george costanza visited this island he would say he was an ornithologist to get laid.the town itself is small, maybe a few hundred people. we copped a hostel on the water for like $20 and posted up on the patio with a few american dudes.
just caught sunset as we rolled in

along the beach in the harbor was the true resting place of noahs ark. does that make this a major find? am i now the famous archaeologist i always dreamed of
the reno job no-one wants
the view from our patio
scared all the competition away. lots of ball courts in peru
basically waiting for the 7 am departure of these boats that take you on a tour out to these islands. as we approached the dock on the ramblas, gringos started appearing like cochroaches to cookie crumbs. fkn gringos! it was pretty funny. the age, background and language spread was diverse

not quite leo and kate

the collection of fanny packs and camera cases was in full effect. some overcompensated more than others. then there was me holding alissas little pink camera... so ummmm yea....

all the fishing boats in the harbor

read the name on the lil blue boat. if jebus could walk on water why did he need a boat?

jaws caught this one. inka for dinner
the ramblas
what happens when u set the timer on the camera and don´t quite make it in time
casa me likey
captain black sparrow!¿(pictured below)
he was the most fiercesome vulture to ever sail the seven seas
rolling into the islands. the goo that slimer left was especially beautiful
male seals trying to "seal the deal" with the females.... ohhhhh
these two were such sucks.... posing for the clicky clack of the cameras steady
once every 5 years the peruvians come and collect the guano from the islands and it is sold in fertilizers worldwide. very expensive apparently. well expensive enough to make scraping up doo doo all day worthwhile. not pour moi

kinda hard to see but the black on the island is all birds. en mass

the birds were constantly flying over head dropping their cargo on us like allied bombers on german tank factories in 1944. you would think putting a bright orange target on your head wouldnt be wise. especially if getting tagged is supposed to be good luck!

i kept expewcting the fog to roll in and see the black pearl sail thru
hard to describe just how many birds there were there
where they would pull up and moor when they collect the doodoo. also used when the workers didnt collect enough they had to walk off the end. the peruvian equivalent of walking the plank
i should know the name of these birds. i really should. (blank)
another look at the rock holes
more
seals seem to serve a purpose but i´m not really sure what that is

ahhhh penguins. not just a publishing company

a bunch of little danny devitos

puffing out their chests, engaging in a stare down

entering the islands

the skys were blackened with birds and the rain was white
